When Trump’s new security adviser meets with top Saudis
The White House is hosting Saudi Arabian Defense Minister Adel al-Jubeir, the first Saudi official to attend the White House since President Donald Trump took office, to discuss ways to improve cooperation between the two countries’ militaries, according to a White House official.
The two countries have been working together on countering terrorism, and Trump has asked al-Khatib to work to increase the defense cooperation between Riyadh and Washington.
The White House did not provide details about the visit.
The visit comes as the Saudi military continues to bolster its air force amid growing concerns from Washington that the country’s Houthi rebels could mount a major offensive against Riyadh and its key ally, the United States.
