‘I’m going to put myself out there’: Orlando escort’s mom shares how she’ll ‘make the most of the next two weeks’
An Orlando escorts mom says she’s “getting over” her loss of her daughter because she’s going to “make the next 2 weeks worth it.”
In an interview with ABC News, Kristin Johnson told ABC News that she lost her son, Kasey, in June 2016 at the age of 24, and that she’s now hoping to “put myself out here and get out there for his birthday.”
She told ABC that she has not seen her son since he passed away and that it’s been a “challenging” time.
“We’re not going to be able to go back and see him again,” she said.
“I’m just going to go into the hospital and be a mother to him and try to make sure he’s OK and make sure his future is safe.”
She added that she is not “happy with what I have now,” adding that she plans to get a second job “if it means that we have the time and energy” to get him back home.
“I’m getting over it,” she added.
“It was a horrible situation, but at the same time, I’m still a mom.”
Johnson was one of the first Orlando escort workers to publicly come forward after the Orlando nightclub shooting, claiming that she witnessed her daughter being shot by an unidentified gunman and that her daughter was left lying on the ground and dying.
She said she was shocked to see her daughter alive, and told ABC’s “Good Morning America” that she was “surprised” that the gunman was not identified.
“That’s why I’m here,” she told “GMA.”
Johnson said that her son was shot multiple times by an unknown assailant, and she believes that her “mental state” was in shock at the time of the shooting.
She told “Good Day Florida” that her father was trying to run when he heard a gunshot, but that she could not see him and was “nervous.”
“I don’t know what happened to me,” she continued.
“He wasn’t running at all.
He was just sitting there.”
Johnson has since left the escort industry, telling ABC News she has lost hope for the industry and believes that “a lot of the people that are involved are trying to put themselves out there as an escort.”
You don’t get a chance to make it, so I’m going, just to make the most out of this.”ABC News’ Lauren Hurley contributed to this report.
