How to avoid a false rape allegation in Alabama
Police in Alabama have said they are investigating a false report that a male escort allegedly raped a woman at a hotel in the state.
A police statement on Wednesday said the woman was sleeping in a hotel room in the city of Montgomery when a man allegedly came to the room and grabbed her by the hair.
He then sexually assaulted her and forced her to perform oral sex, according to police.
A woman in her early 20s was able to get to the hospital and was treated and released.
The man who allegedly raped the woman has been identified as James James Tatum, 33, of Mobile.
Police did not say how long he has been in the country.
He has been charged with a number of offenses, including first-degree rape, aggravated sexual battery, criminal confinement and aggravated assault.
